I believe this trip was on April 23rd, but I could be wrong.
Anyway, on the spur of the moment the previous night we'd decided to hike
Mt. Si. The day was a bit cloudy but at least it was dry, and a decent
temperature for hiking. Near the top we saw a fair amount of snow but on
the whole the trail was clear.
I brought my camera along but didn't take very many pictures--probably
because most of us on the hike had seen Si plenty of times before, and
the view from the top was great but no better than usual.
Forrest and I scrambled up the rock to the base of the haystack, but
stopped there. I've climbed the haystack before, but this time we didn't,
either because of the cold or the ravenous mountain lions that were up
there at the time.
Tamara and Robert headed down the mountain just as Forrest and I returned from
the haystack. They gave us a cryptic warning about hot cheese and then
disappeared. It turned out that the cheese in our sandwiches had a lot
of jalapenos, imagine Pepper Jack on steroids.
